Microscopic Endodontics

An untreated tooth decay or a trauma can damage dental pulp and cause its inflammation and death (necrosis). In such a case, endodontic treatment is the best choice to save the tooth. It includes mechanical and chemical cleaning of the root canals and the removal of their bacterial and organic content. The roots The Use of Operative Macroscope is necessary to get more successful and predictable treatment, (success rate is up to 95%). Operative Microscopes assure a magnified clinical vision of the internal of the tooth and thus better control of the treatment.
Dott. Andrea Cioffi has learned the Use of Dental Microscope in Endodontics by Dott. Arnaldo Castellucci, Active Member of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) and International Speaker about Endodontics.

Oral Surgery

Oral surgery is a specialized field of dentistry focused on diagnosing, treating, and performing surgical procedures on the mouth, teeth and gums. Surgical procedures include:

· Tooth extractions: removing damaged or infected and non-restorable teeth, including wisdom teeth.
· Dental implants: placing artificial tooth roots in the jawbone to support crowns or bridges or mobile prosthesis
· Reconstructive surgery: reconstructing hard and soft tissues to restore oral health.

Dott. Andrea Cioffi is Specialist In Oral Surgery and PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial Sciences (University of Naples Federico II).

Fixed and removable prosthetics

Dental prostheses make it possible to replace missing teeth.

There are two main options to consider: fixed prostheses and removable (or mobile) prostheses.

Fixed prostheses are not removable, as they are cemented to the natural teeth, when present, or to artificial roots.

Removable prostheses, on the other hand, can be taken out to allow for proper daily oral hygiene.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are artificial root placed in the jawbone to restore missing teeth. Implants can support fixed or mobile prosthesis. The first clinical trials about modern dental implants were published in the ’60s and since then dental implants procedures have become safer and more predictable. Nowadays, dental implants are often the best solution for missing teeth fixed restoration.

Dental implants need to heal in the jawbone for a few months (4 months for upper jaw and 3 months for lower jaw). However, it is possible, in specific and documented circumstances, to load dental implants immediately after placement, within 48 hours. This procedure, called immediate implant loading, has significantly reduced the waiting time needed in the oral fixed rehabilitations.

Dott. Andrea Cioffi is Specialist in Oral Surgery, practicing dental implants procedures for 20 years. Periodontology at University of Göteborg andDott. Agostino Scipioni, International Lecturer about bone regeneration and implant dentistry.

Conservative Dentistry

Conservative Dentistry is a specialized field of dentistry focused on maximizing tooth structure preservation to restore dental function and aesthetics. It’s the way we work. It’s the aim we are looking for. Preserving tooth structure assures oral health and long-term survival of prosthodontics.

Cavities are one of the main reasons people seek dental care, regardless of age, while dental fractures can be caused not only by decay, but also by accidental trauma.

Prosthodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry

Prosthodontics is the specialized field of dentistry focusing on diagnosis and treatment of aesthetic and functional disease of the mouth.Obviously, fixed restorations are the best choice for the patient, because of their comfortability and greater aesthetics. This branch of dentistry makes use of advanced technologies and innovative materials that replicate the color and brilliance of natural teeth.

The demand for aesthetic dentistry also in healthy people has increased in these post COVID years and a more conservative approach has been designed to guarantee long term results.

For each specific case, we will evaluate the most suitable solution.

Among the most sought-after cosmetic procedures, dental veneers are becoming increasingly popular — alongside teeth whitening.. In addition to these simpler solutions, more complex treatments are also available in the field of cosmetic dentistry, such as dental implants.

Dott. Andrea Cioffi has learned the modern prosthodontic procedures by Dott. Dario Castellani, International Lecturer and Specialist in Prosthodontics at TUFT University, Boston, USA.

Periodontics

Periodontics is a specialized field of dentistry focused on diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease. The periodontium is the structure that anchors the tooth in the jawbone. It includes gums, periodontal ligament (connecting the tooth to the bone) and the alveolar bone (surrounding bone). Periodontal disease is an infective-inflammatory disease affecting the periodontium and causing jaw bone and tooth loss. Periodontal treatment includes oral hygiene, subgingival scaling and root planning, reconstructive surgery of oral hard and soft tissues.
Dott. Andrea Cioffi is Specialist in Oral Surgery (University of Naples Federico II) and has learned modern periodontal treatment by Dott. Roberto Pontoriero, Specialized and Master in Periodontology, Ph.D. in Biology at University of Pennsylvania and Ph.D. in Periodontology at University of Göteborg.

Orthodontics

L’Orthodontics is the specialty of dentistry concerned with the growth and development of the dentofacial complex, and the diagnosis, prevention and correction of dental and facial irregularities and/or abnormalities.visible orthodontics Orthodontic treatment should be evaluated early, to intercept dentofacial growth abnormalities, reduce the treatment duration and obtain successful and predictable outcomes. Invisible aligners have been invented recently and allow to obtain successful and predictable outcomes in adulthood. Forget traditional metal braces in this case, thin transparent aligners are used instead.

Using the patient’s digital dental impressions, each aligner is custom-made to ensure a precise and personalized fit.

Pediatric dentistry

Pediatric dentistry focuses on preventing and treating various oral diseases in children, from around 2–3 years old up to teenagers aged 16.

To ensure long-term oral health, many treatments are included in a primary prevention program, helping to prevent the onset of more complex conditions.

Oral medicine

Oral Medicine deals with the study of diseases of the mouth and their treatment.

One of the serious diseases affecting the mouth is oral cancer, which accounts for 2-3% of all malignancies diagnosed globally. In Europe, 60000 people develop oral cancer annually, with survival rates ranging from 50% to 60% at 5 years.

Other diseases (e.g., of auto-immune origin) also have early onset in the mouth. A visit to the oral pathologist dentist is often the only way to get early diagnosis and effective therapies.
